McCabe Coleman News: 2021

January 11, 2021: McCabe Coleman is proud to announce that Dean McGee has joined the Firm as a partner and head of our civil litigation department.

After graduating first in his class at St. John’s University School of Law, Dean joined the international law firm of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP, where he litigated cases in state and federal court on behalf of Fortune 500 companies in the financial, pharmaceutical, entertainment and hospitality industries. During that time, Dean took a year off from private practice to serve as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable William H. Pauley III of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. Most recently, after returning home to Ulster County, Dean represented leaders of the Ulster County Government in connection with litigation, contract negotiation, legislation, real estate transactions, public health law, and municipal law. Dean’s breadth of experience across practice areas in both public service and private practice will further expand the Firm’s capacity to meet the needs of our municipal, business and individual clients throughout the Hudson Valley.

May 4, 2021: McCABE COLEMAN WINS DISMISSAL OF CLAIMS BROUGHT BY VERIZON WIRELESS BUSINESS PARTNER

On May 3, 2021, Judge Maria Rosa of the Dutchess County Supreme Court granted a motion to dismiss filed by MCVP on behalf of our client, a landowner in the Town of LaGrange. The plaintiff in the action was Blue Sky Towers II LLC, which sought to secure our client’s property for the construction of a Verizon Wireless cellular tower despite the expiration of the parties’ agreement. In granting the motion to dismiss, the Court found that our client “acted within his legal rights not to extend the [contract].”

The motion was authored by Dean McGee, head of the Firm’s civil litigation department, and counsel David Steinberg.
