John Clarke (Of Counsel) is a former Dutchess County Senior Assistant Public Defender with more than 25 years experience representing people accused of crimes. He has handled cases ranging from minor violations and misdemeanors to the most serious felonies, John has gained a reputation as a caring and determined advocate and counselor. He knows the system and works hard on behalf of every client to achieve a favorable result.
John served as an enlisted soldier with the U.S. Army in Europe before returning home and attending the State University of New York College at New Paltz, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. He earned his law degree from the City University of New York Law School at Queens College. He is a graduate of the prestigious National Criminal Defense College’s trial advocacy program in Macon, Georgia.
He is a member of the New York State Defenders Association, the New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Dutchess County Bar Association, the Columbia County Bar Association, and the New York State Bar Association.
John is an avid runner, hiker and outdoorsman who, together with his wife, has made Columbia County his home.
