David L. Steinberg

Of Counsel

David L. Steinberg (Of Counsel) is a former Hyde Park Town Justice and Acting Poughkeepsie City Court Judge. He has been honored as a judge and lawyer with numerous awards for his excellence in a legal career spanning over 40 years, including by the Dutchess County Magistrates Association as “Magistrate of the Year” and the New York State Bar Association Award for outstanding delivery of defense services.

A former Dutchess County Chief Assistant Public Defender and chief appeals attorney, David has argued many criminal and civil appeals in the state’s appellate courts, including the New York Court of Appeals. He is a founding member of the Poughkeepsie law firm of Steiman & Steinberg and has most recently served as principal court attorney to the Hon. Lawrence H. Ecker in Westchester and Orange County Supreme Courts where the entire spectrum of civil cases are adjudicated including personal injury and matrimonial cases.

David is a founding member of the Mid-Hudson Children’s Museum and a former member of the Board of Directors of Mid-Hudson Legal Services, New York State Defenders Association and the New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
